Thanks to those who braved the torrential rain to come all the way out to Whitford Forest for the Field Round of the Auckland Archery Club Champs on Sunday 20th. Once we got there, the rain cleared up! and it was just muddy for all with a little bit of drizzle.
Huge thanks to all those at Whitford who took all the novices around the course and showed them how to get through a field round. It was lots of fun and everyone who went enjoyed trying to hit the bales and targets through the trees!
We were all finished by lunchtime, when there was a hot barbecue to warm us up and keep us fed. We were about to start leaving when Bert and Andrew came out of the forest last... and dead equal on points! As a joke we made them have a shoot-off before they were allowed a sausage, with Andrew defeating Bert. Of course the result wasn't official so they are still tied for second place in the Field.
It was a great day, the sun did make an appearance and we look forward to going back there next year to fire away with the Whitford Archers.
