Questions

Got questions about archery or our club? Here are the answers to some that you might have.
What is our physical location?

Please visit our Location page for details of where to find the club house and range.

When is your next Beginners Course?

We run four Beginners Course a year to match the school terms. Our courses are on Sunday mornings. Please see our Beginners Course page for more information. Courses cost $260 for four weeks.

I've shot before. Can I just turn up and shoot?

If you have done archery before or completed a basic course of instruction then you will need to complete an assessment with one of our club coaches before you can join the club. Only club members are allowed to shoot on the range unless you are a member of another target archery club and you have made arrangements to shoot through the club secretary.

I belong to another club. Can I shoot at your club?

If you are a member of another target archery club then you may come along to any of the scheduled shoots with proof of membership. If you are a member of a field club, you will need an assessment first. Please email secretary@aucklandarchery.org.nz to discuss. If the club is not open, you can’t shoot on the range.

You must have the approval of the range captain of that day to shoot, and pay the Casual fee (for members of other clubs) of $10.

If you want to shoot regularly at our club, it may be more appropriate for you to join us as an Associate member.

Where is the membership form?

Once you have successfully completed a Beginners Course or passed an assessment, a membership form will be sent to you. Email secretary@aucklandarchery.org.nz if you require more details.

Can I have my birthday party or event at your club?

You can! We do corporate and fun events which you can check out our prices on our Corporate Events page. We do not currently run school holiday shoots.

Do I need a club uniform?

On weekend shoots we require the club shirt to be worn. If you are shooting at a competition, full uniform needs to be worn. Uniform is available to purchase from the club.

When is the next Have a Go day? Do I need to book?

Refer to our Have A Go Days page for the date of the next Have a Go day. You just turn up – entry is $5.

When the Beginners Courses are full or I can't make the dates, is there a way I can have a private course?

Private beginner courses may be available where group courses are full or not at a suitable time. These depend on the availability of coaches. Course costs are the same as the group Beginners Courses. Please contact the Coaching Coordinator for more information.

Another alternative if you just want to try archery, is to do a group event with some friends. Bookings can be made through our corporate event page.

Can we hire equipment and what is the cost?

Yes, club members can hire equipment, subject to approval of a range captain. The hire of a club bow and arrows is $20 per day. Please note that priority will be given to archers attending our Beginners Courses when these are scheduled.
